About the Role
The Department of Pathology at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC) and the James Cancer Hospital Molecular Laboratory is seeking a Director of Clinical Bioinformatics to lead and innovate in the field of clinical genomics and bioinformatics. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of precision medicine by integrating cutting-edge computational approaches with clinical diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee a team of PhD bioinformaticians and variant scientists in the clinical genomics laboratory.
- Develop and implement bioinformatics pipelines for genomic data analysis in a clinical setting.
- Lead translational or basic research in clinical bioinformatics, genomics, and computational pathology.
- Collaborate with molecular pathologists to enhance data-driven workflows for integrated pathology-genomics diagnostics.
- Mentor trainees, including graduate students, PhD candidates, and medical students.
- Represent the department in institutional and cancer center initiatives in genomics and bioinformatics.
Qualifications
- Required: MD, MD/PhD, or PhD in a relevant field with clinical bioinformatics/informatics certification or eligibility.
- Preferred: Expertise in machine learning, AI, digital spatial profiling, or integrated genomics/digital pathology.
- Strong background in clinical bioinformatics, with prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research; competitive grant funding history is a plus.
- Eligibility for academic appointment at the associate or full professor level.
